Birmingham Nightlife




Birmingham is a vibrant city with many pubs, bars, cafes and restaurants so you can find cheap and tempting options. The main nightclub areas are Broad Street and Brindley Place/Mailbox, the most popular places to drink and dance are Zinc Bar, Flares, Living Room, The Works, Hard Rock Café, Walkabout and Bar Epernay among others.


The city is also host of many important events, exhibitions and conferences in the country. Tourists like to visit places like the National Exhibition Centre, the National Indoor Arena and the International Convention Centre looking for entertainment or sporting events.

Other interesting places which may keep you entertained at night are the theatres, many musical and art shows are performed there. The most popular theatres are the Alexandra Theatre, the Birmingham Hippodrome, the Crescent Theatre and the Old Rep Theatre, but there are also many other small theatres in the suburbs and around the city centre.


Gay Scene

In Birmingham the gay scene is wide established, the best gay bars are range from traditional to glam. In the city there is an area known as the “gay village”, maybe is not bigger as the scene in London but has its charm. Some popular gay bars are the Boots Bar, Equator, the Fox and the Glamorous Show Bar. The biggest gay bar and a legend amongst locals and tourists is the Route 2, there are served good drinks with an excellent ambience.



Music

In Birmingham there is one of the best live music venues in the world. The best pop and rock acts are performed in the Birmingham Academy, if you like these musical genders, you shouldn’t miss these performances.
But if you like the tenderness of classical music, the right place to go is the Conservatoire; its main hall was built to hold more than 500 people.
Interesting clubs where enjoy live music are Barfly, CBSO Centre, Flapper and Firkin and the Jug of Ale. Many students and young people prefer these places for their vibrant and varied ambience. The National Exhibition Centre holds massive concerts from famous singers and groups of the popular music scene today. Other place used especially for concerts is the Symphony Hall that is also home for the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.
In the summer, Birmingham hosts many important musical festivals like the International Jazz Festival. Besides that, there are many jazz clubs and pubs where local jazz and blues bands perform their best repertory. One of the most popular jazz and live music venues is the Jam House in the Jewellery Quarter.
